Lambing Live

IMG_7473.jpg

Spring is one of our busiest and favourite times of year on the farm. Not only do our morning jobs become a little warmer but almost every week we welcome new life into the world.

During the Easter holidays we are expecting our flock of 30 ewes to lamb (lambing live). It should be an exciting time, nothing better than seeing this up close and meeting the ewes & their lambs first hand.

Each animal is closely monitored by Rich and Tara, watching for signs of labour and you are invited to join us. You can help Rich and Tara notice the first signs of labour and possibly see a lamb be born.

You can also bottle feed our orphan lambs and kids at 10am, 11:30am 1pm, 2:30pm and 4pm. To find out more about this, click here.

Orphan lambs and kids are those that have either been rejected from their mother, been the third in a set of triplets (which becomes too much for the ewe) or a lamb who's mother has fallen ill or died.

Important stuff for grown-ups

Working together for a safe and relaxing visit to The River Severn Fairy Trail

  1. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The River Severn Fairy Trail is situated on a working farm with livestock in adjoining fields.

  2. Remember that you are responsible for the safety of yourself and others in your group while on the farm.

  3. Don’t forget to respect the privacy and property of others. Follow the Government’s guidance on staying safe outside your home. We advise bringing your own hand sanitiser.

  4. Do not allow your children to go ahead and separate from the group.

  5. Before you begin, agree on an emergency rendezvous point should someone become separated from your group.

  6. In the event of an accident while on the farm, do not attempt to move the casualty, please call the emergency services on 999, giving your location:

    Lime Kiln Farm,
    Hasfield,
    Gloucestershire,
    GL19 4JW.

  7. Place your litter in a bin or take it home with you.
    Have fun!
